Getting started with Explorify!
Welcome to Explorify!
Welcome to Explorify! We’re over the moon that you’ve decided to sign up, but we know you’re short on time, so here are some tips and answers to get you started.
How am I going to find time to do this?
Our activities start at just fifteen minutes so are perfect to slot into your day. Teachers tell us they often use them at the start or end of a session to settle and focus a class, for an early morning pick-me-up or the post-lunch slump! Some teachers use our activities as golden time rewards, as an introduction to start a new topic or for assessment at the end of a topic.
How do I access Explorify’s activities?
Simply sign up, verify your email address and start browsing activities! We’ve found that teachers particularly love the Zoom In, Zoom Out and What’s Going On? activity types, so these might be a good place to start!
Do you cover the whole curriculum?
All of our activities are curriculum linked and we are working hard to create activities that map the whole curriculum. Each one has background information, explaining the science behind the activity, as well as ideas for exploring the topic in greater depth, usually through linked Explorify activities or supporting resources from other trusted, non-commercial sites, such as the BBC. We also hope you'll use Explorify to ignite curiosity and encourage thinking skills across the curriculum!
Do I need any equipment?
We’ve designed our activities to require little or no prep – perfect for busy teachers! Activities such as Odd One Out, What’s Going On? And Zoom In, Zoom Out have been created so that all you need is a screen and an internet connection. Our hands-on activities – Mystery Bags, Problem Solvers, Mission Survive – will require you to have a look around the classroom for items you might be able to use, we suggest you trawl the junk cupboard or recycling box for some makeshift building materials!
If you do have access to a printer, why not download our classroom posters and stickers to get you started?
Our videos are currently hosted on Vimeo, if this is blocked in your school you’ll need to contact your IT administrators to enable viewing. We know this can be an issue with some schools so if you run into problems, click on 'contact us' at the bottom of the page and see if we can help.
Remember, if you have any questions you can always email us or join our Staff Room!
