Reflecting the new Welsh curriculum on Explorify
Exciting update for all teachers in Wales.

We’re excited to announce a change that you will see on Explorify this week. It will help you plan better as you use your new curriculum. With help from some teachers in Wales, we’ve reorganised our activities to match the ‘What matters’ statements that best fit with Explorify. As all Explorify activities support the first ‘What matters’ statement 'Being curious and searching for answers is essential to understanding and predicting phenomena', we’ve tagged activities to reflect the science content of these statements only:
-
The world around us is full of living things which depend on each other for survival.
-
Matter and the way it behaves defines our universe and shapes our lives.
-
Forces and energy provide a foundation for understanding our universe.
Under the science topic tab, you will now find shortened labels that reflect ‘What matters’:
-
The world around us is full of living things
-
Matter and the way it behaves
-
Forces and energy.
To help you plan for science in the news, we have created an extra filter for topical science.
We’ve also matched our activities to the Progression Steps expanded in the Descriptions of learning rather than year groups too:
-
Progression Step 1 is labelled as PS1
-
Progression Step 2 is labelled as PS2
-
Progression Step 3 is labelled as PS3
And finally, our Problem Solver activities will be useful when you are considering how Design thinking and engineering offer technical and creative ways to meet society’s needs and wants.
