Explore the science behind cycling!
Bike To School Week runs from 28th September - 2nd October. It's a great opportunity to create learning experiences for your class around all things two-wheeled!
Bike To School Week Activities
Encourage your budding scientists to think about the bike in different ways!
What if brakes were automatic? Develop your class’s discussion skills by getting them to think about how forces work while thinking about a familiar and fun object.
Whirring wonders: In this video, an up-close look at bike gears will set your young explorifiers’ cogs in motion and develop their scientific thinking with pedal power!
What if we didn’t use transport to get to school? Another discussion for your class to think about alternative modes of transport. How many can they think of and take it further by introducing experiences from other parts of the world?
Wonderful wheels: This Odd One Out activity, is great for promoting observation skills, in this case looking at three fun objects with wheels. The goal is not to be the first to get the right answer – (in fact there isn’t one!) but to observe differences and similarities and how your pupils describe them. Something everyone can join in with!

Have a scientific bike week!
